Paradise Beach is a long-time Sacramento favorite, especially on hot weekends when the river runs low and clear. Expect sunbathers spread along the sand, floaters drifting by, and plenty of room to wade or swim along the inside of the bend. Go early for easier parking and bring shade—trees are set back from the main sandbar.

Tucked behind a residential area, Sand Cove feels like a little secret despite being minutes from downtown Sacramento. A short walk from the parking area leads to a curved sandy beach protected from the main river current. It’s an easy spot to bring a chair, let kids dig in the sand close to shore, and watch boats glide down the channel.

Within Discovery Park, Tiscornia Beach offers one of the largest uninterrupted sand stretches in the region. Locals come here to spread out towels, toss a frisbee, or cool off in the shallows while still being close to restrooms, lawns, and picnic tables. It’s especially nice in the late afternoon when the light drops along the river and the day-boating traffic thins out.

It’s a good pick if you want to make a day of it with coolers, games, and time both in and out of the water.

Sandy Beach sits just downstream from Rio Vista with a generous curve of sand that feels wild by Central Valley standards. The persistent Delta breeze keeps summer days comfortable and draws kite flyers and boat watchers as much as swimmers. Pack a windbreaker along with your towel and plan to linger for the sunset over the levees.
