It’s a bit of a winding drive from Mi-Wuk, but in exchange you get quieter coves, great fishing nearby, and starry skies if you stay into the evening.

It has more of a classic reservoir feel than the high-mountain lakes, but the trade-off is warm water, easy parking, and enough room on the water for everything from kayaks to serious ski boats.
