Roughly a half-hour from Occidental, Doran runs for nearly two miles along the spit that forms Bodega Bay’s outer edge, with multiple parking lots and clear paths to the sand. The gradual slope and typically smaller waves make it a comfortable choice for families, casual wading, and beachcombing. Expect cool breezes, shorebirds, and plenty of room for picnics, kite-flying, and long, unhurried walks by the water.

It is an easy pick when fog lingers on the coast but you still want to be by the water without driving all the way to Bodega Bay.
