A mostly gentle trail circles Lake Siskiyou, offering Mount Shasta views, shaded stretches, and plenty of spots to dip your feet in the water.
The loop feels surprisingly wild in places yet never strays far from the water’s edge, making it a forgiving choice for varied abilities. Quick waterfall fix
Hedge Creek Falls Trail
Dunsmuir • Short Forested Waterfall Walk • Best Roadside Stretch-Your-Legs Stop
Just off the freeway at Dunsmuir, a brief downhill path leads to a delicate waterfall you can walk behind and views into the Sacramento River canyon.
Hedge Creek Falls makes a perfect add-on when you are already heading south from Montague or returning from a longer hike. The shaded trail drops quickly to the creek, where a shallow overhang lets you slip behind the curtain of water on low-flow days. Because it is short and close to town, expect company, but the easy access and cool spray on hot afternoons keep it firmly on local favorites lists.
