The homes and farms found on Arney Road are typical of rural Ohio and or Appalachian Ohio, including a strong Amish presence.

Road Conditions

The road surface is composed entirely of gravel. Under normal conditions four-wheel drive isn’t necessary, however, it might be needed under weather conditions such as snow or heavy rains. The road is easy and relatively safe to drive, but travelers should be cautious for Amish buggies and pedestrians as there is a high concentration of Amish living in the area.

Road Review

Situated in Ohio’s Amish Country, the road features scenic views of Amish farms, pastures, and cropland, amongst rolling hills and hollows of Northeast Ohio. Amish travelling by horse and buggy frequently travel the road and the section between W Lebanon Road and Harrison Road offers an up-close look at Amish houses and farms as well as a variety of farm animals, including horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, and chickens.

Several large hills on this section of the road provide excellent photo opportunities and are far enough away from the Amish houses to get out of the car and walk around and take in the views. Different seasons offer a drastically different experience making it a great road to visit during all times of year.

Although fairly short in distance, Arney Road is a must see for those exploring Ohio’s backroads, especially in Amish Country in or near Wayne, Stark, or Holmes Counties.
